I’m a pet owner, so you can believe me when I say I need the best vacuum for carpet. If you’re a pet owner, too, you understand the struggle. With all the makes and models on the market, it might be difficult for you to choose the right one for you. I know I was shocked when I saw how many vacuum cleaners are available now!
I’ve had the best luck cleaning up after my dogs with an upright and bagless vacuum cleaner. My current vacuum is the Eureka! Airspeed One. I’ve had the unit for several years, and it’s worked well for us. Its newer model is the Airspeed Unlimited Rewind AS3030A, which if you think about it, is an incredibly neat vacuum cleaner!
- Airspeed technology for strong suction
- Inexpensive, it runs about $100
- It’s bagless, so no need to buy bags
- Cleans both carpet and bare floors
- Extra-long power cord with auto rewind
- Long hose
- Powered upholstery attachment
It’s a bagless vacuum chock full of features, including the Airspeed technology, which allows more air to pass through the unit, thereby pulling more dirt and debris from your carpet. And it maintains a strong suction whether you’re vacuuming the carpet or hard floors like wood or tile.
Another excellent feature is the allergen feature. This can be especially helpful in the spring if you suffer from seasonal allergies and hay fever.
The Airspeed Unlimited is lightweight at 15.5 pounds, so carrying it up and down stairs isn’t a problem. Speaking of stairs, the vacuum comes with a 12-foot-long attachment hose, stair and upholstery turbo nozzle, a dusting brush, and a thin crevice tool.
This vacuum features an automatic cord rewind, so it’s easy to put away the 27-foot-long cord with the simple touch of a button.
This Airspeed has a washable and reusable dust cup, which means you won’t have to replace it as often. This will help to reduce the dust in your home, reducing allergens as well.
Although this machine has a lot of pros, toward being the best vacuum for carpet, there are a few cons to consider. First, the vacuum is bulky, making storage more difficult. Also, the holder for attachments seems flimsy. One reviewer stated that it’s rather loud, louder than a dishwasher, for example.
Another reviewer says that the automatic rewind tends to activate itself and that the machine tends to spit dirt out the back of it rather than into the bin. Speaking of the bin, it’s rather small compared to other vacuums.
For me, the older model Eureka! Airspeed has been sufficient for my home for years. We have 3 dogs and a cat, so we have plenty of hair. Plus, we live on a dirt road, which means DUST, lots of dust! Fortunately, I have all hardwood floors and just a couple of rugs to keep clean, so my trusty old Eureka! can keep up with my current cleaning needs.
